#ChefEddPresents — Spaghetti Meatballs

After I made the Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo last week, I still had half a pack of fettuccine pasta left so upon browsing for some fun recipes, I stumbled upon this classic dish which I have never tasted! It's basically the spaghetti we love but with giant meat balls which everybody loves! I can honestly say this dish is a big bowl of happiness, not to mention prepping the balls is pretty fun in itself. I'm getting the hang of cooking pasta and I'm loving all the products so far.

Basil adds such an incredible level of flavor to this dish, I can't imagine having more spaghetti in the future without it. It's so simple and unlike my previous dishes, has only a few ingredients. That's pretty awesome for someone who's still got bills and insurance and dogs to take care of... I digress.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg ground beef

  • 1/2 ground pork

  • breadcrumbs

  • 1 egg

  • parmesan

  • basil

  • canned crushed tomato or sauce, also paste

  • onion, garlic, salt, pepper, olive oil

Steps

  1. Mix meats with garlic, onion, breadcrumbs, an egg, parmesan. Season with salt and pepper.

  2. Brown the mixture in low heat.

  3. On same pan, sauté onion and garlic. Add marinara sauce and seasonings. Supposedly, you may add orange peel to cancel out the metallic flavor of the canned tomatoes but when I did this, all the flavor got cancelled out so I don't recommend it. I tried using orange flavor (liquid) and it is somewhat better and added a tangy twist.
